O’Neale dot Net

Because I can.

O’Neale dot Net (The Thomas Zone)

Wouldn’t it be great if everyone inherently knew everything about everyone they encountered?  Since that sort of telepathy isn’t happening yet, we rely on technology to bridge that gap and feed us that kind of personal knowledge.  Right now we have all this face-booking, twittering and my-spacing  going on, and some people are saying we already know too much about each other.  But all that info on the great world wide floobernet is self-supplied.  So how much of it is true?  How much information about you or me is omitted?

I wonder what it would be like to have all the vital information of everyone I see projected above them by my glasses.  You walk down a corridor, and above your head are all your stats popping up like in a video game.  Your current health, your affiliations, your relations;  all your stats.

Someday we might be all connected, all parts of the great world wide floobernet.  We’d all know what and who we were, how we fit in, and pass information between us faster than the blink of an eye.  Not a hive mind; we’d still be individuals.  Just linked.

We are linked now; we’re all part of one great big thing.  We’re just not aware of exactly how.

So who am I?  Can I define myself, or am I merely an amalgam of definitions given to me by others?  What is Lake Superior?  I can look that up on wiki, or in a solid encyclopedia, or in an atlas.  I can’t look up myself, can I?

Image stolen from Penny Arcade. Sorry guys. It's just too damn cool.
